We have complied 7 tips to help you when viewing potential homes to buy.

1.       Take Notes: Bring a pen and paper to write down key features you like and dislike about each home.

2.       Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to ask questions to help you make a decision, Take note of questions and comments about the home, for the seller and/or for your agent.

3.       Know thy Neighbor: Gather information about the area you would like to move to.  Research at your local library, ask your real estate agent or speak with family and friends.  Be sure you’re comfortable with the area before making the decision to buy a home.

4.       Be Realistic: Don’t waste your time looking at homes that simply don’t fit your budget.  To make the home buying process smoother, you should get pre-qualified for a mortgage loan, and know immediately the type of home you can financially enjoy.

5.       Be Patient: You may not see your dream home immediately.  It could take some time and that is ok!  Ask your real estate agent to put you on their VIP Buyer list and stay up-to-date on current listings for your target area.

6.       Leave your emotions at home:  It may sound harsh, but it is very true. Don’t become emotionally attached to any home you view.  Anything can happen and you don’t want to set yourself up for a disappointment.
